Colortone Corner: A Tale of Two Summits

On the snowy peaks of Park City, Colortone produced two consecutive summits for long-term partner MarshBerry — their annual Peak Performance Summit from January 26-28 at the Montage Deer Valley, and their inaugural Ascend Summit from the 28th-30th at the Grand Hyatt.

In less than a day, Colortone was able to strike one summit and set up another in a second location, all while facilitating a seamless audience experience.

Dedication

The team began load-out at the Montage at 12:30 PM and finished around 2:45 PM. Soon after, they were hard at work setting up the Ascend Summit, using small teams of stagehands for the transition between events to speed up the process.

Three team members, including our Director of Events Erin Weir and Director of Production Ryan Massey, traveled directly from the first event to the second.  By 10:30 PM that day, Ascend was fully set and ready for programming. All in all, the team worked for almost sixteen hours to create a smooth experience for all involved.

Efficiency

Producing two nearly overlapping events took careful preparation and hard work. Weir shared how she encouraged efficiency during the process.

“We added an extra stagehand to help us with load-out and ensure we’d get out a little quicker than normal,” said Weir. “Our experienced onsite technicians also kept things very organized in order to make our load-in at the next venue easy and streamlined.”

From pre-looming cables to pairing adapters with their equipment, the team used their technical knowledge and years of experience to develop efficient strategies.

Intentionality

MarshBerry’s unified event vision kept the gear list consistent between the summits. By taking the same gear to each event, the team was able to cut down on delivery costs and streamline logistics — all while maintaining brand integrity and supporting MarshBerry’s vision.
